On April 29, 2020, at approximately 10 a.m., State Police responded to State Route 86 in Wilmington for a report of a one-car crash.

An investigation on scene revealed that 70-year-old Alice M. Forbes of Keeseville, was traveling east on State Route 86 when her vehicle ran off the south shoulder of the roadway, striking a NYSEG pole. The pole broke and fell across the roadway, blocking both lanes of travel. Forbes was transported to the University of Vermont Health Network at the Champlain Valley Physicians Hospital in Plattsburgh where she was treated for back and abdominal pain.
