On August 19, 2022, the suspect involved in the pursuit, Kron C. Hathaway, age 21, was arraigned bedside at Strong Memorial Hospital by Monroe County Judge Julie Hahn on the charges of
- Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd degree
- Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 3rd degree
- (3) counts of Assault 2nd degree
Judge Hahn ordered that Mr. Hathaway be committed to the Monroe County Jail in lieu of $300,000 cash or $500,000 bond. Additional charges may be pending.
A securing order was sent to the Monroe County Jail and the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office will be taking custody of Mr. Hathaway at Strong Memorial Hospital until his release.
The victims in the vehicle struck by Mr. Hathaway have been positively identified as:
- Zuleyshka Nicolle Noriega Nunez, age 21- Passenger
- Moises Daniel Quinones Santiago, age 30 - Driver
- Infant – 2 days old
On August 18, 2022, at approximately 5:11 p.m., State Police attempted to stop a 2017 Mazda for a traffic violation on Bay Street in the city of Rochester.
The driver, a 21-year-old male, from Rochester, NY refused to comply and continued traveling east on Bay Street when he went through a red light at the intersection of North Goodman striking a 2006 Toyota, operated by a 30-year-old male from Rochester, NY who was traveling south on North Goodman.
A 21-year-old female passenger in the Toyota was transported to Strong Memorial Hospital with serious injuries and was listed in critical condition. A two-day-old infant, who was in the back seat of the vehicle, was transported to Strong Memorial Hospital and listed in stable condition. The child has since been transferred to Golisano Children’s Hospital.
The operator of the Mazda was transported to Strong Memorial Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Troopers located an illegal handgun and drugs inside his vehicle. The subject also had an active warrant and was wanted by the Rochester Police for a menacing incident.
Names of the involved are being withheld at this time pending notification of family.
The investigation is continuing.
