PRESS RELEASE

On July 16, 2019, at approximately 5:30 a.m. State Police responded to a domestic dispute at a residence on Dandelion Way in the town of North Elba.

An investigation revealed that Kyle L. Wilkerson, 20, of Wilmington, entered the residence without permission to be there, and damaged a vehicle in the driveway by breaking a window and keying it.  He then entered the residence and engaged in an altercation with two victims, during which he struck and choked a female victim, and struck the male victim with an unknown blunt object. Wilkerson also menaced both victims with a shovel.  The two victims both suffered lacerations and contusions.  They were treated and released at the Adirondack Medical Center in Saranac Lake.  Wilkerson fled the scene and was later taken into custody without incident. He was charged with Burglary 1st degree, Aggravated Criminal Contempt, Assault 2nd degree, Criminal Mischief 3rd degree, Assault 3rd degree, and Menacing 2nd degree.

After further investigation, it was determined that Wilkerson was involved in a prior domestic dispute on July 15, 2019, with the female victim in the village of Lake Placid. During this incident Wilkerson violated an active order of protection, choked the victim, struck her in the face, and broke her cell phone.  Wilkerson was additionally charged with Aggravated Criminal Contempt, Assault 3rd degree, Criminal Obstruction of Breathing, and Criminal Mischief 4th degree. Wilkerson arraigned in the Village of Lake Placid Court where he was remanded to the Essex County Jail in lieu of $50,000 cash bail, or $100,000 bond.
