State Police are investigating the death of a Fonda man who was located deceased in the Schoharie Creek in the area of Power House Road in the town of Florida.

At approximately 1:15 p.m. on July 7, 2020, State Police responded to the Schoharie Creek in the town of Florida after individuals who had gone to the area to swim, reported locating a deceased person in the water.

The victim is identified as 79-year-old Edward Kazlauskas of Fonda. An autopsy was performed at St. Mary’s Hospital in Amsterdam and the cause of death has been determined to be accidental drowning.

The matter remains under investigation any updates will be posted to the newsroom.
