On August 6, 2020, at approximately 1:35 a.m., State Police responded to a residence on Buckton Road, in the town of Stockholm for a report of a burglary. The call originally was reported to State Police as being in-progress, whereas a male suspect had entered the home and damaged property. The occupants inside originally alleged they confronted the suspect, where a brief struggle took place and the suspect ultimately fled the scene through a bedroom window and entered a wooded area located directly behind the residence. Following an investigation, four subjects were arrested after it was discovered they made up the story about the alleged burglary.
32-year-old Justin M. French of Stockholm, was charged with Criminal Contempt 2nd degree, due to violating a ‘Stay-Away’ order of protection by having contact with one of the parties involved. French was arraigned before the Town of Morristown Court where he was remanded to the St. Lawrence County Correctional Facility in lieu of $2,500 cash bail, or $5,000 bond. He is scheduled to reappear in the Town of Stockholm Court.
27-year-old Janice R. Brothers of Brasher, was charged with Falsely Reporting an Incident 3rd degree and Making a False Written Statement 1st degree. She was released with an appearance ticket returnable to the Town of Stockholm Court.
50-year-old Michelle L. French of Stockholm, was charged with Making a False Written Statement 1st degree. She was released with an appearance ticket to appear in Stockholm Town Court.
28-year-old Frederick L. Jandreau Jr. of Stockholm, was charged with Making a False Written Statement 1st degree. He was released with an appearance ticket to appear in Stockholm Town Court.
