State Police investigate fatal accident in the village of Clifton Springs.

On January 25, 2023, at approximately 10:15 a.m., the State Police responded to a report of a 1 car - 1 person accident on East Main Street in the village of Clifton Springs.

When troopers and a Paramedic from Finger Lakes Ambulance arrived they discovered the operator, Fred Ventura, age 89, from Geneva struck a tree and was unresponsive in the vehicle.  EMS removed Ventura from the vehicle and preformed life saving measures. 

Ventura was transported to Clifton Springs Hospital and was pronounced deceased.

Investigators are not ruling out that Ventura may have a medical event prior to the accident.

The investigation is continuing.
