State police investigate a fatal crash on State Route 299 in the town of Lloyd

On May 17, 2022, at approximately 8:54 p.m., state police from the Highland barracks responded to a two-vehicle crash on State Route 299 in the town of Lloyd. Preliminary investigation revealed that a 1997 Toyota Corolla, operated by Alfredo Gomes, age 59 from Lloyd was traveling westbound on State Route 299 was involved in a collision with 2021 Volvo traveling eastbound. The Volvo was operated by Ashley Guerrero, age 35 from the city of Poughkeepsie. The Volvo was approaching the intersection at Park Lane when the Corolla crossed over the double yellow line and traveled through the center turning lane and struck the Volvo head on causing the Volvo to rollover. Ashley Guerrero was transported to Vassar Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Alfredo Gomes was transported to Mid-Hudson Regional Hospital where he was pronounced deceased from his injuries.
