*Update* September 7, 2021
 

On September 7, 2021, the New York State Police in Queensbury charged 66-year-old Dennis M. Ford of Saranac Lake with Aggravated Vehicular Homicide (B felony), Vehicular Assault 2nd degree (E felony) and Driving While Intoxicated (misdemeanor). Ford was arraigned in Warren County Centralized Arraignment Part following his release from the hospital. He was remanded without bail and is due in Chester Town Court on September 14, 2021. 

The surviving victim, Lauren Huff, remains hospitalized in stable condition.

State Police confirm the identities of the occupants of the 2004 Volvo XC70. The driver, Lauren Huff, 30, of Boston MA was airlifted to UVM Medical Center in critical condition.  The front seat passenger, Matthew G. Huff, 27, of Westfield, NJ and rear passenger, Kerry O‚ÄôReilly, 30, of Dorchester, MA were both declared deceased at the scene.

The investigation is ongoing.

At approximately 10:30 p.m. on September 3, 2021, the New State Police responded to a head-on motor vehicle crash on I-87 southbound in the town of Chestertown.
 

Preliminary investigation has determined that Dennis M. Ford, 65, of Saranac Lake, was operating a 2017 Mini Countryman north in the southbound when he collided head-on with a southbound Volvo XC70. The operator of the Volvo was airlifted to UVM Medical Center in Burlington VT in critical condition. The front seat passenger and rear passenger were declared deceased at the scene. Ford was airlifted to Albany Medical Center and is in fair condition.

The identities of the occupants of the Volvo are being withheld pending family notifications.

The crash remains under investigation, more information will be posted to the newsroom as it becomes available.
