UPDATE: On August 30, 2020, an autopsy was completed by Dr. Michael Sikirica, at Glens Falls Hospital. The cause of death was determined to be asphyxia due to inhalation of smoke and heated products of combustion. The fire is suspicious in nature and we are not ruling out arson. However, the cause and origin of the fire remains under investigation, as well as the manner of death.

UPDATE: The subject who died as a result of the fire has been identified as 87-year-old  Marion T. Collins. Clinton County Coroner Chad Deans authorized removal of her body to the Glen’s Falls Hospital, where an autopsy will be performed. This remains under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to contact State Police at (518) 873-2777. 

On August 29, 2020, at approximately 2:15 a.m., State Police responded to a report of a structure fire at 2456 State Route 9N in Ausable Forks, town of Black Brook.  A victim was located by fire personnel inside the residence and was transported to an area hospital and pronounced deceased. State and County Fire investigators are on scene. Further information will be released as it is available.
