On January 17, 2023, at 6:49 p.m., State Police responded to Interstate 81 northbound near mile marker 101.3 in the town of Hastings for a reported pedestrian struck by a vehicle.
When Troopers arrived, they observed multiple vehicles parked along the shoulder of the roadway. Interviews with those drivers revealed several vehicles subsequently struck the victim in the roadway.
The 20-year-old male, from Cicero, was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Based on interviews with witnesses and evidence collected, Investigators believe the pedestrian appeared to have walked in the lane of traffic purposely.
The name of the victim is not being released at this time. No criminal charges are expected against any of the drivers.
The investigation is continuing.
