PRESS RELEASE

On June 3, 2021, at approximately 8:41 a.m. the New York State Police in Plattsburgh responded to a collision involving a school bus that occurred at the intersection of Irish Settlement Road and Military Turnpike in the town of Plattsburgh.

The investigation revlealed that a 2008 International school bus from Peru Central School was westbound on Irish Settlement Road, attempting to turn left onto Military Turnpike. The operator of the school bus failed to observe a 2016 Toyota Prius, which was travelling eastbound on Irish Settlement Road, and turned into the path of the Prius.  The Prius struck the right rear of the bus.

The bus was occupied by the driver and 12 students from the Peru Central School District. All were evaulated by the South Plattsburgh Fire Department and the Morrisonville-Schuyler Volunteer Ambulance Service, and there were no injuries. The New York State Police was assisted on scene by the Clinton County Sheriff’s Department.

The operator of the bus, Melissa Duprey, age 47, of Peru, NY, was ticketed.
