PRESS RELEASE
 

On November 10, 2020, at approximately 4:09 a.m., the New York State Police responded to a motor vehicle accident on State Route 390 South in the Town of Avoca involving a passenger car and tractor trailer. The four occupants of the passenger car, including a four-year-old child, and driver of the tractor trailer were all injured and taken to Noyes Memorial Hospital and Strong Memorial Hospital. 

Investigation at the scene revealed that the passenger vehicle, a Toyota Camry, was stopped in the driving lane and struck from behind by the tractor trailer. The 2017 Toyota Camry had been reported stolen from the Bronx, NY on November 6, 2020. The operator of the Toyota, 28 year-old, Johario Lamarche of the Bronx, NY was arrested for Criminal Possession of Stolen Property, Aggravated Felony Driving While Intoxicated, ( Leandra‚Äôs Law), Aggravated Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle 1st. Degree, and Vehicular Assault. Lamarche was remanded to the custody of the Steuben County Jail to await CAP arraignment. Geraldo Torres, 29, Bronx, NY a passenger in the Toyota Camry was also charged with Criminal Possession Stolen Property. 

The 4 year old child was treated and released, and the third adult from the passenger car remains hospitalized in critical condition at Strong Hospital.

The investigation is continuing.
