PRESS RELEASE

On January 22, 2021, at approximately 4:10 p.m., a State Police Investigator attempted to stop a larceny suspect on St-Rte 104 westbound near Lincoln Road in the town of Ontario, Wayne County.  The suspect, Tamiya Jackson, age 30, from Rochester, who troopers found out later is on parole, failed to stop and fled police when the investigator activated his emergency lights and siren.

The State Police Investigator immediately turned off his lights and siren and continued westbound with no emergency lights on and later observed a motor vehicle accident at Monroe-Wayne County Line Road.

Jackson drove through a red light and struck a southbound passenger vehicle with a family of 4 in a SUV.  All occupants, 1 adult and 3 children were taken to Strong Hospital, some with serious injuries.  The names of these individuals will be released tomorrow.

Jackson was also taken to Strong Hospital for injuries and is currently being treated.

State Police were assisted at the scene by the Ontario Fire Department.

Jackson is facing several charges and the investigation is continuing.
