On April 16, 2020, at approximately 7:10 p.m., State Police responded to a motor vehicle crash on State Route 22 in the town of Essex.

An investigation at the scene revealed that a 2004 Toyota Tundra operated by 25-year-old Tyler D. White was traveling south on State Route 22 when he lost control of his vehicle and ran off the west shoulder of the roadway, striking a utility pole, a traffic sign and then a concrete wall in front of Belden Noble Memorial Library. White sustained multiple injuries and was air lifted to the University of Vermont Medical Center in Burlington, Vermont. 

The investigation is continuing.
