PRESS RELEASE

On Wednesday August 5, 2020, at approximately 7:40 pm, the State Police received a call for a vehicle collision on the Robert Moses Causeway northbound on the main span, in town of Islip, Suffolk County. 

 

Oscar A. Rios-Sosa, 30 years old of Brentwood, was driving a 2013 Mercedes on the Robert Moses Causeway northbound when failed to stop, as traffic was stopped, at which time he struck one vehicle from behind and caused six other vehicles to be struck. 

 

Sameer Ramnarine, 19 years old of Jamaica, NY who was driving a 1997 Lexus, was critically injured and was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital in West Islip.  No one in any of the other vehicles were injured in the collision.

 

The cause of the collision is still under investigation and the State Police is asking for anyone with information to call (631) 756-3300.
