PRESS RELEASE

On January 4, 2022, at around 4:30 a.m., State Police were called to an overturned tractor trailer on I-90 in the town of Cheektowaga.

The preliminary investigation determined a 2006 Mack tractor-trailer, driven by Michael Zielinski, 57, West Seneca, was traveling too fast on the I-90 West Exit 52 acceleration ramp near Walden Avenue and overturned. The truck overturned onto the driver-side, colliding with the concrete median.

The driver was taken to Mercy Hospital for a complaint of head and hip pain.

The truck, which was hauling scrap metal, was removed by heavy duty tow trucks, with the assistance of Thruway maintenance, and the Walden ramp was reopened by 9:15 a.m.
