Alexander Simek, 73 years-old of Albrightsvlle, PA, was driving a 2019 Chevrolet northbound in the southbound lanes of the Wantagh State Parkway when he struck a 2014 Honda driven by Jay Lasker, 54 years-old of North Bellmore.  Simek succumbed to his injuries at the scene and Lasker was transported to Nassau University Medical Center lower body injuries.   

The cause of the collision is still under investigation and the State Police is asking for anyone with information to call (631) 756-3300.

The Wantagh State Parkway has reopened.

 

On Thursday August 13, 2020, at approximately 5:15 am, the State Police received a call for a vehicle collision on the Wantagh State Parkway southbound, south of the Southern State Parkway, in the town of Hempstead, Nassau County. 

 

A vehicle traveling northbound in the southbound lane struck another vehicle head-on.  One person succumbed to injuries at the scene and the other was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

 

The Wantagh State Parkway is currently closed at the Southern State Parkway southbound. 

 

The cause of the collision is still under investigation and the State Police is asking for anyone with information to call (631) 756-3300.
