Rye, NY –  On December 27, 2022, at approximately 4:15 a.m., State Police responded to I-287 and the I-95 ramps in the city of Rye, for a report of a serious injury crash between a tractor trailer and a box truck.

A preliminary investigation determined that Kevin J. Roman, 26, of Levittown, PA, was operating a tractor trailer eastbound on I-287 when he exited the roadway and struck a box truck that was disabled on the shoulder.  The crash claimed the life of 65-year-old Richard K. Troopers out of New Rochelle were assisted on scene by Troop K BCI, CRU (Collision Reconstruction Unit), CVEU (Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Unit), and Thruway Maintenance.  The crash remains under investigation.
