State Police are currently investigating a fatal motor vehicle accident that took place on the Adirondack Northway in the Town of Halfmoon overnight.

At approximately 12:27 a.m., State Police were called to the scene of a two-car motor vehicle accident just south of exit 8 of the Northway. The driver of one of the vehicles, 24-year-old Rayquan D. Murphy of Cohoes, was located deceased at the scene.

Preliminary investigation has determined that Murphy was headed south when he struck another vehicle from behind. Murphy was unable to maintain control of his vehicle and rolled several times, exiting the western shoulder of the roadway. He was the sole occupant of the vehicle. At this time, speed is believed to be a factor. The occupants of the second vehicle were uninjured in the collision.

The crash remains under investigation, any updates will be posted to the newsroom.
