At approximately 3:23 p.m. Friday afternoon, State Police responded to a car versus motorcycle accident on Ballard Rd in the town of Wilton. The driver of the motorcycle, 44-year-old Michael Crandall of Middle Grove, sustained life-threatening injuries and was med flighted to Albany Medical Center where he remains in critical condition.

Investigation into the crash revealed that Crandall was traveling southwest on Ballard Road in the area of Route 50, and had stopped for a school bus that was traveling in the opposite direction.  The school bus had extended its stop arms and activated its red lights as it stopped to let off passengers. The driver of the second vehicle, 20-year-old Connor Levy of Saratoga Springs, was also traveling southwest on Ballard Road and failed to observe that Crandall had stopped, subsequently impacting the motorcycle from the rear. Crandall was ejected.

Levy stopped immediately, did not show any signs of impairment, and it is not believed that he was using any electronic devices. He was ticketed for Following Too Closely. The investigation is ongoing at this time.
