UPDATE:
On July 22, 2022, State Police responded to a report of an adult that had fallen into the Saranac River, in the town of Plattsburgh, and had not resurfaced. State Police Troopers, Investigators, Underwater Recovery Team, and Drone responded, along with New York State Environmental Conservation Officers, New York State Forest Rangers, Clinton County Sheriff’s Department, and several local Fire Departments’ Water Rescue Teams.
On July 23, 2022, the victim was located in the Saranac River, deceased. An autopsy is scheduled for Tuesday. The victim has been identified as Amanda R. Hilton, 39, of Plattsburgh.

On July 22, 2022, at approximately 9:00 p.m., New York State Police in Plattsburgh received a report of an overturned kayak on the Saranac River in the vicinity of Brown Road in town of Plattsburgh. New York State Police, Clinton County Sheriff’s Department and several local Fire Water and Rescue Departments responded and attempted to locate the female kayaker. Results were negative and the search continues today with the New York State Police Underwater Recovery Team (URT) along with local Fire and Water Rescue Teams.
