*UPDATE* August 3, 2020- State Police confirm that at approximately 7:00 a.m. this morning, the body of a deceased male was located in the Hudson River in the area of the 112th Street Bridge in the city of Cohoes. The identity of the deceased has not yet been confirmed.

Original release August 2, 2020- State Police are currently attempting to locate a missing swimmer in the Hudson River.

Troopers responded to the area of Hudson Avenue in the town of Schaghticoke at approximately 8:00 p.m.  last evening. Witnesses reported that a 77-year-old Schaghticoke man had entered the river to swim, when he began having difficulty and went under the surface.

State Police Uniformed and BCI members have been searching the area with assistance of NYSP Aviation and the Underwater Recovery Team. Multiple agencies have responded to assist including: The Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office, Rensselaer County Sheriff’s Office, Albany Fire Department, Melrose Fire Department, Pleasantdale Fire Department, and Waterford Fire Department.
