New York State Police arrested an Oneonta man after he refused to exit his residence for over 23-hours.
On July 16, 2022, just before 8 p.m., troopers went to a home on Emmons Hill Road in the town of Oneonta to interview Tyler W. Burr, age 28 of Oneonta, NY for his involvement in a theft from Price Chopper on June 20th.
When troopers attempted to speak to Burr, he aimed a bow and arrow at the troopers then shot in the direction of the troopers.
A perimeter was established with the assistance of the Otsego County Sheriff’s Department. New York State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation and Special Operations Response Team responded to the scene.
Burr eventually attempted to flee from the residence just after 7 p.m. on July 17th and was taken into custody.
Tyler W. Burr has been charged with the following crimes:
- class “D” felony of Menacing a Police Officer (four counts)
- class “D” felony of Criminal Mischief in the second degree (three counts)
- class “D” felony of Burglary in the third degree – stemming from the theft at Price Chopper on June 20th.
Burr was processed at SP Oneonta and later transported to the Otsego County Jail to await arraignment.
More charges are possible. The New York State Police thanks the public for their cooperation and patience during entire incident.
New York State Police are on scene at an on-going investigation in the town of Oneonta. The State Police are asking the public to please avoid the area of State Route 7 near Emmons Hill Road.
There is no threat to the public.
State Route 7 is closed near Emmons Hill Road up to the Price Chopper parking lot. Emmons Hill Road is closed. A detour is in place which will take motorists onto Hillside Drive.
