Wheatland, NY – On January 10, 2021, at approximately 10:10 a.m., State Police stopped a vehicle on I-90 in the town of Wheatland, for a vehicle and traffic violation. While interviewing the driver, probable cause to search the vehicle was established.
During the vehicle search Trooper’s discovered approximately 14 grams of cocaine and 1.5 grams of MDMA. Additionally, an FNH 9mm pistol with a 10-round magazine loaded with 8 rounds, was located in the vehicle. The handgun was determined to be stolen.
The driver, Jaron O. Flagg, 31, of Syracuse, NY, was taken into custody, transported, and processed at SP Rochester where he was charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 3rd degree; a Class B Felony, Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd degree (loaded firearm other than in a person’s home); a Class C Felony, Criminal Possession of a Weapon 3rd degree (previous conviction); a Class D Felony, and Criminal Possession of Stolen Property 4th degree (stolen firearm); a Class E Felony.
Flagg, a predicate felon, was arraigned before the Town of Chili Court and was remanded to the Monroe County Jail without bail. A preliminary hearing is set for January 15, 2021 at 4:00 p.m.
