PRESS RELEASE

On April 5, 2022, at 8:18 p.m., members from the New York State Police Community Stabilization Unit in Troop D attempted to initiate a traffic stop for several traffic infractions on Thompson Road in the Town of Dewitt.  The suspect vehicle failed to stop and continued to lead Troopers on a traffic pursuit.

The driver, later identified as 47-year-old Stephen R. Marks from Syracuse, NY, was taken into custody without further incident.  A nationwide check for any warrants revealed 19 total outstanding warrants for Mr. Marks which included a 2019 Kidnapping Warrant from the state of North Carolina.  The US Marshal Task Force responded to the scene and took Marks into custody on Fugitive from Justice charges.
