On June 16, 2020 New York State Police at Homer arrested three people after shoplifting complaints from Kinney Drugs and Lowe’s in the town of Cortlandville. 

Cortland County 911 advised troopers of a complaint of shoplifting at Kinney Drugs, employees were able to provide a description of the suspects, the vehicle, license plate and direction of travel.  Cortland County 911 also advised that a shoplifting complaint from Lowe’s appeared to involve the same individuals. 

A trooper on Interstate 81 spotted the vehicle traveling northbound and initiated a traffic stop about two miles south of the Tully exit. Five occupants in the vehicle were interviewed. 

After an investigation, three individuals were charged.  They are as follows:

  • Tysheema M. Williams, age 22 of Syracuse, NY was charged with two counts of the misdemeanor Petit Larceny for her role in taking items from Kinney Drugs and Lowe’s.  She was issued an appearance ticket to the town of Cortlandville Court on August 10, 2020. 
  • An 18-year-old female of Syracuse, NY was charged with two counts of the misdemeanor Petit Larceny for her role in taking items from Kinney Drugs and Lowe’s.  She was issued an appearance ticket to the town of Cortlandville Court on August 10, 2020. 
  • Nikkai L. Burgess Jr., age 25 of Syracuse, NY was charged with misdemeanor Petit Larceny and Criminal Impersonation in the second degree for his role in taking items from Lowe’s.  During processing, troopers learned that Burgess Jr. had provided a fake name during the time of arrest and he was additionally charged with Criminal Impersonation.  Burgess Jr. was issued an appearances ticket to the town of Cortlandville Court on August 10, 2020.  Troopers also learned that Burgess was wanted on a warrant with the Dewitt Police Department and he was subsequently turned over to the Dewitt Police Department.
