State Police became involved in a vehicle pursuit with a 2019 Chevrolet Tahoe after the vehicle’s driver, Nelson Reyes, fled a traffic stop with U.S. Border Patrol Agents near  Massena. Troopers from Troop B pursued the vehicle from Ellenburg to just south of Plattsburgh before terminating the chase. During the pursuit, the suspect vehicle struck 2 uninvolved motor vehicles, injuring one person who was transported to Champlain Valley Physician’s Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The suspect vehicle was located by State Police in Troop G as it travelled south on the Adirondack Northway in the area of exit 23. The vehicle was pursued to exit 16 where it came to a stop on the off ramp. The three occupants, later identified as Reyes, Espinal, and Norberdo, fled on foot but were taken into custody shortly after exiting the vehicle.

A subsequent search of the vehicle revealed that Reyes was in possession of 50 pounds of marijuana, and Espinal was in possession of a quantity of oxycodone.

Reyes was arraigned in Wilton Town Court and released on his own recognizance. Espinal and Norberdo were also arraigned in Wilton Town Court, both were remanded to Saratoga County Jail on a parole violation.
