On June 14, 2020, at approximately 5 p.m. State Police arrested three people for various offenses following a traffic stop on Bear Swamp Road in the town of Peru.

The operator, 38-year-old Daniel G. McLaughlin of Plattburgh, 24-year-old Taylor A. Swan of Westport, and 28-year-old Tenasia Secore of Plattsburgh were all found in possession of a quantity of crack-cocaine as well as glass smoking devices used to smoke narcotics.

Secore initially provided the trooper with false information. She was charged with Criminal Impersonation 2nd degree, and Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th degree. McLaughlin and Swan were charged with one count each of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th degree. They were all released on appearance tickets returnable to the Town of Peru Court.
