New York State Police made three arrests during an Underage Drinking Initiative in Chenango County. The initiative took place on Friday, April 29, 2022.
Alcohol was sold to a minor at three establishments:
- Nazzitto’s Wine & Liquors – State Route 12, Norwich, NY
- Norwich Fresh Market – State Route 12, Norwich, NY
- South End Wine & Liquor – Gilmore Lane, Norwich, NY
An appearance ticket was issued to each clerk who sold alcohol to the minor.
Ten other business were in compliance:
- Mirabito Quickway – N. Main Street, Sherburne, NY
- Stewart’s Shop – North Main Street, Sherburne, NY
- No Problem Liquors – West State Street, Sherburne, NY
- Stewart’s Shop – County Road 32/State Route 23, Norwich, NY
- Mirabito Quickway – County Road 32/State Route 23, Norwich, NY
- Speedway – State Route 12 (N), Norwich, NY
- Mirabito – State Route 12 (N), Norwich, NY
- Speedway – State Route 12 (S), Norwich, NY
- Mirabito Quickway – State Route 12 (S), Norwich, NY
- Kwik Fill - State Route 12, Norwich, NY
During the Underage Drinking Initiative, retail establishments are checked using a trooper in plain clothes and one or several underage operative(s) who cannot lie about their age or give a fake date of birth (if asked). When asked for ID, they must show their real ID. All New York State driver’s licenses are horizontal if the license holder is over the age of 21; if the license holder is under the age of 21, they are vertical.
