PRESS RELEASE

Three men have been arrested and each charged with the felony of Criminal Mischief in the third degree after the men vandalized the fabric and craft aisle at the Walmart in Oneonta. 
 
On January 7, 2020 at approximately 8:33 pm a trooper from SP Oneonta was dispatched by Otsego County to Walmart and Office Max for three suspicious males.  Employees from Walmart told troopers that three people were attempting to enter Office Max but did not gain entry, nor did they cause any damage.  The employees from Walmart told the trooper that the same three males were in the fabric and craft aisle and vandalized the area with craft paint around 7:14pm.  The males were observed leaving Walmart around 7:28 pm. 
 
On January 11, 2020 New York State Police at Oneonta arrested Devin K. Castillo, age 19 of Walton, NY for the felony of Criminal Mischief in the third degree.  An appearance ticket was issued to the town of Oneonta court on January 21, 2020.  Troopers located Castillo after Troopers from SP Sidney responded to one car rollover in Sidney Center.  An investigation revealed that Castillo struck one car which pushed it into a second car, which pushed the second car into a third car and the third car ultimately struck a NYSEG pole.  Castillo’s pick-up truck then rolled onto its side.  Sidney Center Fire Department responded to the scene but Castillo refused treatment.  Troopers observed that Castillo displayed several common characteristics associated with alcohol impairment.  After failing standardized field spobriety tests, Castillo was arrested. He was arraigned in the town of Sidney court where he was released on his own recognizance and ordered to reappear on January 24, 2020. 
 
On January 30, 2020 New York State Police at Oneonta arrested Jamie R. Sophie, age 21 of Unadilla, NY for the felony of Criminal Mischief in the third degree and the misdemeanor of Conspiracy in the fifth degree.  He was located at his residence, arrested then processed.  Sophie was released on appearance tickets to the town of Oneonta court on February 6, 2020. 
 
On February 3, 2020 New York State Police at Oneonta arrested Nathaniel Rubera, age 21 of Unadilla, NY for the felony of Criminal Mischief in the third degree and the misdemeanor of Conspiracy in the fifth degree.  He responded to SP Oneonta on February 3 and was arrested then processed.  Rubera was released on appearance tickets to the town of Oneonta court on February 11, 2020.
