On April 2, 2020, State Police in Mayfield arrested 27-year-old Megan B. Bornitzke of Broadalbin, for Reckless Endangerment 2nd degree (A misdemeanor) and Illegal Discharge of a Firearm (misdemeanor). Troopers also charged 27-year-old Jacob E. Currier of Broadalbin, for Tampering with Physical Evidence (E felony) and 32-year-old  Daniel J. Joubert of Clifton Park, for Assault 3rd degree (A misdemeanor).

Troopers were called to a Broadalbin residence shortly before 5:00 a.m. on Thursday, for a shots fired complaint. Investigation determined that while at the residence, Currier and Joubert had engaged in a physical altercation. Joubert was asked to leave but continued to engage with Currier and the two men continued to fight outside of the home. Bornitzke is accused of removing a shotgun from inside the residence and discharging a warning shot.

Currier then hid the shotgun beneath the siding of the residence to conceal it from police. The weapon was ultimately located and secured.

All three suspects were taken into custody and processed at SP Mayfield. They were each issued an appearance ticket for Broadalbin Town Court for May 21, 2020 at 12:00 p.m.
