New York State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigations from SP Princetown arrested a 24-year old man from Cobleskill, NY for Assault 2nd degree and Endangering the Welfare of a Child and a 19-year old woman from Cobleskill, NY for Endangering the Welfare of a Child following an 18 month invesitgation.
On April 14, 2020, New York State Bureau of Criminal Investigations responded to Albany Medical Center Emergency Department for a reported 7 month old male child with multiple arm and leg fractures. Duing the investigative time period, the 19 year old mother Desyree R. Van Alstyne and her 24 year old husband Justin R. Van Alstyne were interviewed regarding the cause and nature of the discovered fractures to their 7 month old son. After conducting interviews with the parents of the 7 month old and additional investigative steps taken, both Desyree and Justin Van Alstyne were found to have failed to take preventative measures to ensure the safety of their 7 month old son. In addition it was discovered that Justin was found to have caused the arm and leg injuries to their son. Justin Van Alstyne was arrested for one count of Assault 2nd degree, a Class D Felony and one count of Endangering the Welfare of a Child, a Class A Misdemeanor. Desyree Van Alstyne was arrested on one count of Endangering the Welfare of a Child.
Justin Van Alstyne was arraigned at Town of Richmondville court was released on his own recognizance with a return date at court on November 10, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. Desyree Van Alstyne was released with an appearance ticket for the Town of Richmondville court on October 27, 2021 at 2:00 p.m.
