State Police in North Syracuse is investigating a crash involving an NYS Plow truck and a tractor-trailer that occurred on Interstate 81 in the town of Cicero.
On December 29, 2020, at 3:59 a.m., State Police responded to the area of Interstate 81 northbound near exit 30 for an NYS plow truck that was struck from behind by a tractor-trailer. The impact caused both vehicles to veer off the roadway and onto the shoulder.
The state plow truck operator, Stephen T. Brewster, age 25 from East Syracuse, was transported by ambulance to Upstate University Hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.
The tractor-trailer operator, Rolando Merino-Rios, age 55 from North Syracuse, was transported to Upstate University Hospital for non-life-threatening injuries. He was issued traffic tickets for Speed not reasonable and prudent and for following too closely.
State Police were assisted at the scene by the Onondaga County Sheriff’s Office. The investigation is continuing.
