On August 17, 2020, New York State Police at Oneonta arrested Mia E. Lowry, age 22 of Pembroke, NC for the felony of Criminal Weapon of a Firearm and the misdemeanors of Reckless Endangerment in the second degree and Endangering the Welfare of a Child. 

Troopers also arrested Christy R. Holden, age 26 of Lumberton, NC for the misdemeanors of Reckless Endangerment in the second degree and Endangering the Welfare of a Child. 

A trooper monitoring traffic on Interstate 88 in the town of Otego initiated a traffic stop after observing a vehicle and traffic infraction.  When the trooper approached the vehicle, he detected an odor of marihuana, prompting a further investigation.  The trooper also observed a one and a half month infant on the lap of the front seat passenger (Holden).  The investigation also revealed that the Lowry who was driving the vehicle was in possession of a loaded handgun. 

Holden and Lowry were arrested and processed at SP Oneonta.  They were arraigned virtually.  Lowry was remanded to the Otsego County Jail on $500 cash bail and Holden was released on her own recognizance.  Both are ordered to appear in the town of Otego court on September 17, 2020.
