PRESS RELEASE
 

Over three dozen impaired drivers were taken off the roadway in Troop C during the month of May.  Troop C encompasses Broome, Chenango, Cortland, Delaware, Otsego, Tioga and Tompkins Counties. 

On May 1, 2021 New York State Police at Oneonta arrested Gretchen M. Walker, age 46 of South Kortright, NY misdemeanor of Driving While Intoxicated.  A trooper on State Highway 23 in the Town of Davenport observed a vehicle with vehicle and traffic infractions.  A traffic stop was initiated, and the trooper observed characteristics commonly associated with impairment.  Walker was asked to perform standardized field sobriety tests, which indicated impairment.  Walker was arrested and transported to SP Oneonta where her reportable B.A.C was .16%.  She was released on appearance tickets to the Town of Davenport court on May 11, 2021 and turned over to a sober third party. 

On May 2, 2021 at approximately 1:45 a.m., New York State Police at Richfield Springs arrested Caleb J. Schachtler, age 28 of Deansboro, NY for the misdemeanor of Driving While Intoxicated.  A trooper on Main Street in the Village of West Winfield observed a vehicle make a vehicle and traffic infraction and initiated a traffic stop.  The trooper smelled an odor of an alcoholic beverage while interviewing Schachtler and investigated further.  Schachtler was asked to perform standardized field sobriety tests, which indicated impairment.  He was arrested and processed at SP Richfield Springs where his reportable B.A.C was .13%.  Schachtler was released on appearance tickets to the Town of Winfield court on June 16, 2021 and turned over to a sober third party. 

On May 5, 2021 at approximately 1:30 p.m., New York State Police at Richfield Springs arrested Stephanie A. Holmes, age 58 of Hamilton, NY for the misdemeanor of Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated.  A trooper was dispatched by Otsego County 911 to assist another agency in the area of State Highway 20 and Brighton Road in the Town of Richfield.  The trooper interviewed Holmes and observed characteristics commonly associated with impairment.  Holmes was asked to perform standardized field sobriety tests, which indicated impairment.  She was arrested and transported to SP Richfield Springs where her reportable B.A.C was .18%.  Holmes was processed and issued appearance tickets to the Town of Richfield court on June 22, 2021 then released to a sober third party. 

On May 5, 2021 at approximately 8:32 p.m., New York State Police at Margaretville arrested Ivan Lor, age 33 of Andes, NY for the misdemeanor of Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated.  Troopers patrolling State Route 28 in the Town of Middletown observed a vehicle speeding and initiated a traffic stop.  While interviewing Lor, they observed characteristics commonly associated with impairment.  Lor was asked to perform standardized field sobriety tests, which indicated impairment.  He was arrested and transported to SP Margaretville for processing where his reportable B.A.C was .20%.  Lor was issued appearance tickets to the Town of Middletown court on June 15, 2021 and released to a sober third party. 

On May 6, 2021 at approximately 9:20 a.m., New York State Police at Norwich arrested Aaron J. Johnson, age 24 of Norwich, NY for the misdemeanor of Driving While Impaired by Drugs.  A trooper was dispatched to a report of one vehicle that went off the roadway on County Road 32 in the Town of Oxford.  While interviewing Johnson, the trooper observed impairment.  After an investigation, Johnson was arrested and transported to SP Norwich for processing.  He was later released on to a sober third party.  Johnson is scheduled to appear in the Town of Oxford court on June 28, 2021.

On May 8, 2021 at approximately 2:50 p.m., New York State Police at Richfield Springs arrested Tamra Ehrmann, age 55 of Richfield Springs, NY for the misdemeanor of Driving While Intoxicated.  A trooper observed a vehicle parked and obstructing traffic in front of Price Chopper in the Village of Richfield Springs.  The trooper located Ehrmann walking into the store and observed characteristics associated with impairment.  Ehrmann was asked to perform standardized field sobriety tests, which indicated impairment.  She was arrested and transported to SP Richfield Springs for processing.  Ehrmann was issued appearance tickets to the Village of Richfield Springs court on June 15, 2021 then released to a sober third party.

On May 8, 2021 at approximately 3:09 p.m., New York State Police at Endwell arrested John J. Kocak, age 31 of Endicott, NY for the felony of Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated with Child as Passenger (Leandra’s Law) and the misdemeanor of Endangering the Welfare of a Child.  A trooper monitoring 911 radio traffic heard a “be on the lookout” to check on the welfare of a vehicle operator.  The trooper located the described vehicle and Kocak, who was with two children.  While interviewing Kocak, the troopers smelled an odor of an alcoholic beverage and investigated further. After an investigation, Kocak was arrested.  He was transported to SP Endwell where he was processed.  Kocak was then transported Broome County Central Arraignment and Processing. 

On May 9, 2021 at approximately 1:45 a.m., New York State Police at Binghamton arrested Elizabeth A. Bankhead, age 28 of Kirkwood, NY for the felony of Driving While Ability Impaired by Drugs (with a previous conviction within 10 years).  Troopers were dispatched to a report of a vehicle off the roadway near State Route 11 and Cedarhurst Drive in the town of Kirkwood.  Troopers located Bankhead, who did not wish to be evaluated by EMS.  Bankhead was asked to perform standardized field sobriety tests, which indicated impairment.  She was arrested and transported to SP Binghamton.  Bankhead was issued appearance tickets to the Town of Kirkwood court on May 25, 2021 then turned over to a sober third party. 

On May 10, 2021 at approximately 7:49 p.m., New York State Police at Oneonta arrested Rahul G. Patel, age 27 of Scranton, PA for the misdemeanor of Driving While Intoxicated.  A trooper observed Patel make vehicle and traffic violations and initiated a traffic stop on Main Street in the City of Oneonta.  Troopers identified an odor of an alcoholic beverage and other characteristics associated with impairment.  He was asked to perform standardized field sobriety tests, which indicated impairment.  Patel was arrested and transported to SP Oneonta where his reportable B.A.C was .16%.  Patel was processed and issued appearance tickets to the City of Oneonta court on May 27, 2021 then released to a sober third party. 

On May 11, 2021 at approximately 3:30 p.m., New York State Police at Ithaca arrested Michael J. Morusty, age 65 of Ithaca, NY for the misdemeanor of Driving While Impaired by Drugs.  Troopers were dispatched by Tompkins County 911 to a report of a crash on West Hill Circle in the Town of Ithaca.  Troopers were advised that civilians were performing CPR on the driver of the vehicle.  When troopers arrived, members of the Ithaca Fire Department were providing emergency care to Morusty, who was unconscious.  He was administered Naloxone by members of Bangs Ambulance and regained consciousness then transported to Cayuga Medica Center.  He was later charged with Driving While Impaired by Drugs and issued appearance tickets to the Town of Ithaca court on May 26, 2021. 

On May 11, 2021 at approximately 9:41 p.m., New York State Police at Homer arrested Deerwar S. Tahir, age 31 of Syracuse, NY for the misdemeanor of Driving While Intoxicated.  A trooper monitoring traffic on Interstate 81 received a traffic complaint from the Cortland County 911 Center.  A 911 caller told dispatchers that a vehicle was unable to maintain a lane and almost struck another vehicle.  The trooper observed the described vehicle and initiated a traffic stop on the Interstate in the Town of Homer to check on the welfare of the operator.  The trooper found that Tahir appeared impaired.  Tahir was asked to perform standardized field sobriety tests, which indicated impairment.  He was arrested and transported to SP Homer for processing.  Tahir was arraigned and released on appearance tickets to the Town of Homer court on June 1, 2021. He was turned over to a sober third party. 

On May 12, 2021 at approximately 12:14 a.m., New York State Police at Richfield Springs arrested Taylor M. Jaeger, age 21 of Bridgewater, NY for the misdemeanor of Driving While Intoxicated.  Troopers were dispatched by Otsego County 911 to a report of a vehicle that struck a guiderail on State Route 20 in the Town of Plainfield.  An investigation at the scene revealed that Jaeger was operating the vehicle when she crashed.  Jaeger also appeared to display characteristics of impairment.  She was asked to perform standardized field sobriety tests, which indicated impairment and was arrested.  Jaeger was transported to SP Richfield Springs where she was processed and released on appearance tickets to the Town of Plainfield court on July 14, 2021 then turned over to a sober third party. 

On May 13, 2021 at approximately 3:08 p.m., Sawyer J. Wooster, age 20 of Nichols, NY for the misdemeanor of Driving While Intoxicated.  Troopers were dispatched to a report of a vehicle that went into the ditch off Briggs Hill Road in the town of Nichols.  As a trooper interviewed Wooster, he smelled an odor of an alcoholic beverage and observed other characteristics associated with impairment.  Wooster was asked to perform standardized field sobriety tests, which indicated impairment.  Wooster was arrested and transported to SP Owego for processing where his reportable B.A.C was .11%.  He was released on appearance tickets to the Town of Nichols court on May 26, 2021 and turned over to a sober third party. 

On May 14, 2021 at approximately 1:16 a.m., New York State Police at Sidney arrested Brandon J. Cornell for the misdemeanor of Driving While Intoxicated.  Troopers initiated a traffic stop after observing vehicle and traffic violations while on County Road 39 in the Town of Bainbridge.  While interviewing Cornell, troopers observed characteristics associated with impairment.  After an investigation, Cornell was arrested and transported to SP Sidney for processing where his reportable B.A.C was .17%.  He was turned over to a sober third party and was scheduled to appear in the Town of Bainbridge court on June 1, 2021.

On May 16, 2021 at approximately 6:30 pm., New York State Police at Owego arrested Robert V. Tingley, age 29 of Vestal, NY for the felonies of Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated (with two previous convictions with 10 years), Aggravated Driving While Impaired with Child as Passenger (Leandra’s Law) and Aggravated Unlicensed Operation in the first degree.  A trooper monitoring traffic on State Route 17 in Lounsberry initiated a traffic stop after observing a vehicle at a high rate of speed.  While interviewing Tingley, the trooper observed impairment.  There were also two children in the vehicle.  Tingley was asked to perform standardized field sobriety tests, which indicated impairment.  Tingley was arrested and the children were turned over to a sober third party.  Tingley was transported to SP Owego where his reportable B.A.C was .21%.  He was processed and released on appearance tickets to the Town of Nichols court on May 20, 2021.

On May 16, 2021 at approximately 10:00 p.m., New York State police at Endwell arrested Timothy R. Gillette, age 50 of Endicott, NY for the misdemeanor of Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated.  A trooper on patrol on Nanticoke Avenue in the Village of Endicott spotted a vehicle with no headlights or rear lights and initiated a traffic stop.  While interviewing Gillette, the trooper smelled an odor of an alcoholic beverage and other characteristics associated with impairment.  Gillette was asked to perform standardized field sobriety tests, which indicated impairment.  Gillette was arrested and transported to SP Endwell where his reportable B.A.C was .31%.  He was processed and released on appearance tickets to the Village of Endicott court on June 9, 2021 then turned over to a sober third party. 

On May 17, 2021 at approximately 8:48 a.m., New York State Police at Homer arrested Quintin L. Wilson, age 38 of Binghamton, NY for the felony of Aggravated Unlicensed Operation in the first degree and misdemeanor of Driving While Intoxicated. Troopers on Interstate 81 in the City of Cortland observed a vehicle that was failing to maintain a lane.  Troopers initiated a traffic stop and interviewed Wilson.  Troopers observed characteristics commonly associated with impairment and Wilson was asked to perform standardized field sobriety tests, which indicated impairment.  Wilson was transported to SP Homer for processing where his reportable B.A.C was .13%.  He was arraigned virtually and remanded to the Cortland County Jail. 

On May 17, 2021 at approximately 9:21 p.m., New York State Police at Homer arrested Forrest C. Batchelor III, age 52 of Groton, NY for the misdemeanor of Driving While Impaired by Drugs.  A trooper was dispatched to a report of a vehicle that went off the roadway near Interstate 81 and the exit 12 connector in the town of Cortlandville.  The trooper found Batchelor III unconscious in the driver’s seat and was able to get Batchelor out of the vehicle with the assistance of an officer from the Village of Homer Police Department and Cortlandville Fire.  Batchelor III was administered Naloxone and regained consciousness.  He was transported to Guthrie Cortland Medical Center by TLC.  An investigation revealed that Batchelor III was impaired, and he was subsequently issued appearance tickets to the Town of Cortlandville court on July 26, 2021. 

On May 21, 2021 at approximately 12:40 a.m., New York State Police at Binghamton arrested Kristen N. Blewett, age 30 of Windsor, NY for the misdemeanor of Driving While Intoxicated.  A trooper was dispatched by Broome County 911 to a report of a vehicle involved in a crash on Place Road in the Town of Windsor.  An investigation at the scene led the trooper to believe Blewett was impaired.  She was asked to perform standardized field sobriety tests, which indicated impairment.  Blewett was arrested and transported to SP Binghamton where her reportable B.A.C was .14%.  She was processed and released on appearance tickets to the Town of Windsor court on June 14, 2021 then turned over to a sober third party. 

On May 21, 2021 at approximately 10:27 p.m., New York State Police at Endwell arrested Nicholas V. Miles, age 24 of Endwell, NY for the misdemeanor of Driving While Intoxicated.  A trooper on Country Club Road in the Town of Union observed a motorcycle with no lights and attempted to initiate a traffic stop.  Miles stopped in the Citgo gas station parking lot on Hooper Road.  The trooper observed characteristics commonly associated with impairment and Miles was asked to perform standardized field sobriety tests, which indicated impairment.  He was arrested and transported to SP Endwell where his reportable B.A.C was .14%.  Miles was processed and released on appearance tickets to the Town of Union court on June 8, 2021 then turned over to a sober third party. 

On May 21, 2021 at approximately 10:27 p.m., New York State Police at Sidney arrested Gene Keach, age 53 of West Pittston, PA for the misdemeanor of Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated.  A trooper was advised by Delaware County 911 that a vehicle was being driven erratically while traveling on Interstate 88 west.  The trooper observed the vehicle speeding and failing to maintain a lane and a traffic stop was initiated.  While interviewing Keach, the trooper observed characteristics associated with impairment.  Keach was asked to perform standardized field sobriety tests, which indicated impairment and he was arrested.  He was transported to SP Sidney where is reportable B.A.C was .20%.  Keach was released on appearance tickets to Town of Bainbridge court on June 21, 2021 then turned over to a sober third party. 

On May 22, 2021 at approximately 12:37 a.m., New York State Police at Ithaca arrested Mortisha O. Fuller, age 35 of Ithaca, NY for the misdemeanors of Driving While Impaired by Drugs and Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the seventh degree.  Troopers on North Triphammer Road in the Town of Lansing initiated a traffic stop after observing a vehicle with vehicle and traffic infractions.  While interviewing Fuller, troopers observed characteristics indicative of impairment.  Fuller was asked to perform standardized field sobriety tests, which indicated impairment.  Fuller was also found in possession of suspected drugs.  She was transported to SP Ithaca for processing then later released on appearance tickets to the Town of Lansing court on June 24, 2021 and turned to a sober third party. 

On May 22, 2021 at approximately 9:25 p.m., New York State Police at Stamford arrested Elizabeth A. McGrail, age 43 of Stamford, NY for the misdemeanor of Driving While Intoxicated. A trooper observed a vehicle make a vehicle and traffic infraction while at the intersection of Taylor Road and State Route 10 in the Town of Harpersfield and initiated a traffic stop.  While interviewing McGrail, the trooper observed characteristics associated with impairment. McGrail was asked to perform standardized field sobriety tests, which indicated impairment.  She was arrested and transported to SP Stamford for processing.  McGrail was issued appearance tickets to the Town of Harpersfield court on June 7, 2021 then released to a sober third party. 

On May 23, 2021 at approximately 7:52 p.m., New York State Police at Homer arrested Toshia M. Randall, age 31 of Cortland, NY for the felony of Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated (with a previous conviction within 10 years).  A trooper was dispatched by Cortland County 911 to a vehicle that struck a guiderail then crossed two lanes of traffic before going into a culvert on Interstate 81 in the town of Cortlandville.  When the trooper arrived, he observed characteristics associated with impairment while interviewing Randall.  After an investigation, Randall was arrested.  She was transported to SP Homer for processing where her reportable B.A.C was .21%.  Randall was released on appearance tickets to the Town of Cortlandville court on June 28, 2021 then turned over to a sober third party. 

On May 24, 2021 at approximately 8:38 p.m., New York State Police at Endwell arrested Megan M. O’Grady, age 38 of Binghamton, NY for the misdemeanor of Driving While Intoxicated.  A trooper was dispatched to East Maine Road in the Town of Maine for a report of a vehicle in a ditch.  The trooper located O’Grady who had been spotted by witnesses leaving the scene and running behind a house.  O’Grady told the trooper she was not injured.  After an investigation, O’Grady was arrested.  Her reportable B.A.C was .12%.  O’Grady was processed and released on appearance tickets to the Town of Maine court on June 9, 2021 then turned over to a sober third party. 

On May 25, 2021 at approximately 2:08 a.m., New York State Police at Margaretville arrested Courtney L. Jenkins, age 32 of Hudson, NY for the felonies of Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated with Child as Passenger (Leandra’s Law), Driving While Ability Impaired by Drugs (with a previous conviction within 10 years) and the misdemeanors of Endangering the Welfare of Child, Unauthorized Use of a Vehicle and Resisting Arrest.  Troopers were dispatched by Delaware County 911 to a report of a vehicle in the ditch off State Highway 23 near Harper Road in the Town of Harpersfield.  When troopers arrived, all four occupants (including two children) were being checked out by members of AMR.  Troopers were also told that while Jenkins was in the back of the ambulance, she got into the driver’s seat of the ambulance and attempted to drive off before the ambulance members were able to take the keys out of the ignition.  During the investigation, Jenkins was asked to perform standardized field sobriety tests, which indicated impairment.  She was arrested and transported to SP Stamford for processing.  Jenkins was later transported to the Town of Middletown court for arraignment and released on her own recognizance.  She was scheduled to appear in the Town of Harpersfield court on June 7, 2021. 

On May 26, 2021 at approximately 7:12 p.m., New York State Police at Whitney Point arrested Anthony F. Suzadail, age 44 of North Syracuse, NY for the misdemeanor of Driving While Intoxicated.  A trooper was dispatched by Broome County 911 to the area of State Route 26 and Interstate 81 (exit 8) for a vehicle that traveled through the guiderail and over the embankment onto I-81 south in the Town of Triangle.  While interviewing Suzadail, the trooper observed characteristics associated with impairment.  Suzadail was asked to perform standardized field sobriety tests, which indicated impairment.  Suzadail was arrested and transported to SP Whitney Point where his reportable B.A.C was .17%.  He was processed and released on appearance tickets to the Town of Triangle court on June 21, 2021 then turned over to a sober third party. 

On May 26, 2021 at approximately 8:49 p.m., New York State Police at Gateway arrested Hammad Haroon, age 38 of Syracuse, NY for the felony of Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated with a Child as Passenger (Leandra’s Law).  He was also charged with the misdemeanor of Aggravated Unlicensed Operation in the second degree.  A trooper was dispatched to a report of a man standing next to a vehicle and trying to wave cars down on Interstate 81 near the Broome and Cortland County line.  When the trooper arrived, he observed that Haroon was with a toddler.  While the trooper interviewed Haroon, he observed characteristics associated with impairment.  After an investigation, Haroon was arrested.  The toddler was turned over to a sober third party.  Haroon was transported to SP Whitney Point where he was processed and arraigned virtually.  Haroon was released on his own recognizance and ordered to appear in the Town of Marathon court at a later date. 

On May 27, 2021 at approximately 10:03 p.m., New York State Police at Norwich arrested Matthew J. Hill, age 36 of Smyrna, NY for the misdemeanor of Driving While Intoxicated. A trooper on State Highway 80 in the Town of Sherburne observed a vehicle pulling a trailer with vehicle and traffic violations.  A traffic stop was initiated.  While the trooper interviewed Hill, he smelled an odor of an alcoholic beverage and inquired further.  Hill was asked to perform standardized field sobriety tests, which indicated impairment.  Hill was arrested and transported to SP Norwich where his reportable B.A.C was .10%.  He was processed then released on appearance tickets to the Town of Sherburne court on June 7, 2021 then turned over to a sober third party. 

On May 28, 2021 at approximately 9:17 p.m., New York State Police at Homer arrested Traci L. Smith, age 36 of Cortland, NY for the misdemeanor of Driving While Intoxicated.  A trooper observed a vehicle make vehicle and traffic violations while near the intersection of Owego Street and Starr Road in the Town of Cortlandville and initiated a traffic stop.  While interviewing Smith, the trooper smelled an odor of an alcoholic beverage and other indicators associated with impairment.   Smith was asked to perform standardized field sobriety tests, which indicated impairment.  She was arrested and transported to SP Homer for processing where her reportable B.A.C was .10%.  She was issued appearance tickets to the Town of Cortlandville court on June 21, 2021 then released to a sober third party. 

On May 28, 2021 at approximately 10:49 a.m., New York State Police at Endwell arrested Kenneth J. Landers, age 59 of Morris, NY for the misdemeanor of Driving While Intoxicated. A trooper on Upper Front Street in the Town of Dickinson observed a vehicle make vehicle and traffic violations and initiated a traffic stop.  While interviewing Landers, the trooper observed an odor of an alcoholic beverage and other common characteristics associated with impairment.  After an investigation, Landers was arrested and transported to SP Endwell for processing where his reportable B.A.C was .17%.  He was released on appearance tickets to the Town of Dickinson court on June 17, 2021. 

On May 29, 2021 at approximately 2:07 p.m., New York State Police at Oneonta arrested Toni Himmanen, age 38 of Oneonta, NY for the felony of Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated with Child as Passenger (Leandra’s Law).  A trooper on State Highway 23 in the Town of Oneonta observed the operator of a vehicle not wearing a seatbelt and initiated a traffic stop.  While interviewing Himmanen, the trooper observed characteristics associated with impairment.  The trooper also observed a young child in the vehicle.  Himmanen was asked to perform standardized field sobriety tests, which indicated intoxication and she was arrested.  The child was turned over to a sober third party and Himmanen was transported to SP Oneonta for processing.  Himmanen was released on appearance tickets to the Town of Oneonta court on June 22, 2021 then turned over to a sober party. 

On May 30, 2021 at approximately 1:39 a.m., New York State Police at Binghamton arrested Jonathan E. Williams, age 43 of Binghamton, NY for the misdemeanors of Driving While Intoxicated and Reckless Driving.  A trooper was monitoring traffic on State Highway 17 after he heard a vehicle was traveling west in the eastbound lanes near exit 83.  Troopers located the vehicle still driving the wrong way between exits 79 and 80 in the Town of Windsor and were able to stop it.  While interviewing Williams on the side of the road, they smelled an odor of an alcoholic beverage and observed impairment.  Williams was asked to perform standardized field sobriety tests, which indicated impairment.  He was arrested and transported to SP Binghamton where his reportable B.A.C was .17%.  He was processed and issued appearance tickets to the town of Windsor court on June 14, 2021 then turned over to a sober third party. 

On May 29, 2021 at approximately 10:14 p.m., New York State Police at Richfield Springs arrested  Zachary A. Duncan, age 36 of West Winfield for the felony of Criminal Mischief in the third degree and the misdemeanors of Driving While Intoxicated, Reckless Endangerment in the second degree, Endangering the Welfare of a Child and Reckless Driving.  Troopers were dispatched to a report of a domestic incident that involved two vehicles. An investigation revealed that Duncan was driving recklessly and intentionally struck another vehicle with his truck on State Highway 20 in the Town of Plainfield then intentionally struck the vehicle a second time while on State Highway 20 in the Town of Richfield.  Duncan reportedly caused over $700 damage to the other vehicle.  Three children were inside the vehicle that was struck.  Troopers investigating the domestic incident located Duncan at a residence in the Town of Exeter and their investigation revealed that Duncan was impaired while operating the vehicle.  Duncan was arrested and transported to SP Richfield Springs for processing, his reportable B.A.C was .14%.  He was transported to Otsego Central Arraignment and Processing where he was released on his own recognizance and is due in the Town of Plainfield court on July 14, 2021 and in the Town of Richfield court on July 2021 (crimes occurred in two different jurisdictions).  An order of protection was issued to the victims by the judge. 

On May 30, 2021 at approximately 2:33 a.m., New York State Police at Homer arrested Michael D. Buttacavoli, age 37 of Syracuse, NY for the misdemeanors of Driving While Impaired by Drugs and Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the seventh degree.  Troopers were dispatched to Mirabito in the Town of Preble when they found Buttacavoli stopped in his running vehicle.  Buttacavoli was found with suspected drugs and appeared impaired.  Buttacavoli was asked to perform standardized which indicated impairment and he was arrested.  He was transported to SP Homer for processing then later released on appearance tickets to the Town of Preble Court on June 22, 2021 and turned over to a sober third party. 

On May 30, 2021 at approximately 8:00 p.m., New York State Police at Stamford arrested Elmer Y. Cardoza, age 32 of Westbury, NY for the felonies of Driving While Intoxicated (with a previous conviction within 10 years) and Aggravated Unlicensed Operation in the first degree.  He was also charged with the misdemeanor of Reckless Driving.  A trooper was monitoring Delaware County 911 radio traffic when he heard of an erratic operator on State Route 23.  The trooper was advised by Delaware County 911 that the vehicle stopped near a tavern on Main Street in the Village of Stamford.  While interviewing the operator, the trooper observed characteristics associated with impairment and an odor of an alcoholic beverage.  After an investigation, Cardoza was arrested.  While at SP Stamford, Cardoza’s reportable B.A.C was .11%.  Cardoza was issued appearance tickets to the Town of Stamford court on June 14, 2021 then turned over to a sober third party. 

On May 31, 2021 at approximately 9:30 p.m., New York State Police at Oneonta arrested Mallory M. Caza, age 27 of Oneonta, NY for the misdemeanor of Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated.  A trooper initiated a traffic stop after observing a vehicle westbound on Interstate 88 in the Town of Oneonta traveling at a high rate of speed.  While interviewing Caza, the troop observed signs of impairment.  Caza was asked to perform standardized field sobriety tests, which indicated impairment.  She was arrested and transported to SP Oneonta where her reportable B.A.C was .24%.  Caza was processed and released on appearance tickets to the Town of Oneonta court on June 15, 2021 then released to a sober third party.
