   Troop T Commander

State Police arrested James T. Diffenderfer, age 53, from North Syracuse, NY for DWI, Reckless Endangerment 2nd degree, and Reckless Driving, all misdemeanors.

On April 10, 2020, at approximately 10:00 p.m., Troopers from Troop T, Zone 3 were on routine patrol when they observed a vehicle traveling westbound in the eastbound lanes on the New York State Thruway just east of the Weedsport Toll Plaza.  Troopers immediately attempted to catch up and stop the vehicle. The vehicle continued traveling the wrong way, causing other operators to take evasive actions to avoid a collision.  Troopers quickly located the vehicle along the shoulder of the Thruway with its lights turned off. The driver, later identified as James Diffenderfer was taken into custody without further incident.

He was transported to SP Syracuse and was charged with Driving While Intoxicated, Reckless Endangerment, and numerous Vehicle and Traffic Law violations.  He was then transported to the Cayuga County Correctional Facility for centralized arraignment.
