PRESS RELEASE

A Gilbertsville man has been arrested and charged with two felony counts of Burglary in the second degree, one count of misdemeanor Criminal Mischief in the fourth degree and six counts of misdemeanor Petit Larceny.

On December 20, 2019 State Police at Oneonta received several complaints of packages stolen from porches in Oneonta’s West End.  One residence did have a doorbell camera that was instrumental in identifying a suspect and his vehicle.  A resident later spotted a male that appeared to match the description of the suspect on Jefferson Avenue and contacted troopers.

After an investigation, troopers arrested Andrew J. VanDusen, age 38 of Gilbertsville, NY.  All packages were recovered near a snowbank on West Street Extension.  However, one package had its contents damaged.  Several other packages that had not yet been reported stolen were also recovered and turned over to their rightful owners.

VanDusen was arraigned by a judge at Otsego County Central Processing and Arraignment where he was released on his own recognizance.  VanDusen is set to appear in the town of Oneonta court on January 2, 2019.
