Middletown- On February 12, 2022, at approximately 3:10 a.m., Troopers stopped a 2021 Nissan Titan pick-up truck on Grand Avenue in the city of Middletown for a vehicle and traffic law violation. While speaking to the operator of the vehicle, troopers observed the operator reaching under the seat of the vehicle attempting to conceal a handgun. Troopers removed the driver and three passengers from the vehicle. Troopers located a loaded Smith and Wesson .38 caliber revolver, and a Sig Sauer P226 BB gun. A check on the Smith and Wesson revolver revealed that it was stolen out of South Carolina.
The operator of the vehicle, a juvenile and two other juvenile occupants were charged with Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd degree and Criminal Possession of Stolen Property 4th degree, both felonies. All three juveniles were released to the custody of their parents and Orange County Department of Probation. The other passenger in the vehicle, Machi Plummer, age 18 from the city of Middletown was charged with the same felonies and released on his own recognizance.
