PRESS RELEASE

On May 4, 2020 at approximately 10:12 a.m., New York State Police at Binghamton arrested Joshua J. Hackel, age 29 of Richford, NY for the felony of Criminal Possession of Stolen Property in the third degree.

Troopers located Hackel inside a vehicle reported stolen from the state of Pennsylvania.  The vehicle was broken down on the side of Interstate 88 near exit 4 in Colesville.  An observant passerby who saw a social media post about a stolen vehicle from PA contacted 911 after he drove past the vehicle.  Troopers located Hackel in the driver’s seat and he was arrested.

Hackel was processed then issued an appearance ticket for the possession of the stolen vehicle to the town of Colesville court on June 6, 2020.  However, because charges are pending in the state of Pennsylvania, he was remanded to the Broome County Jail until his extradition hearing.
