PRESS RELEASE

 

State Police in Herkimer are investigating a motorcycle/vehicle crash that occurred this evening on State Route 28 near White Creek Road in the town of Newport, Herkimer County.

The preliminary investigation has determined, at 5:05 p.m. a 2013 Harley Davidson motorcycle, operated by Matthew C. Borek, age 26 from Herkimer, NY was traveling southeast on Rt. 28 when he failed to negotiate a curve in the roadway, crossed over into the northbound lane and striking the driver side of a 2015 Nissan, operated by Rebecca A. Loren, age 40 from Cohoes, NY. 

Mr. Borek was ejected from his motorcycle and was transported by Kuyahoora Ambulance to St. Elizabeth’s Hospital for head and face trauma and is expected to survive. 

Loren was transported to St. Luke’s Hospital for a complaint of pain.

The investigation is continuing.
