Update: The pedestrian is identified as Clarence G. Travis, age 47 of Exeter, NY. 

 

Update:

The pedestrian has succumed to his injuries.  The driver of the vehicle has not been charged at this time, it appears as the pedestrian entered into the path of the tractor trailer. 

Original release:

New York State Police and the Otsego County Sheriff’s Department were dispatched to a report of a pedestrian struck by a tractor trailer with a dump trailer Wednesday afternoon.  The incident occurred at approximately 1:44 p.m., on County Road 22 in Schuyler Lake.   

An initial investigation reveals that the tractor trailer with the dump trailer was traveling east on County Road 22 when an adult male pedestrian was struck.  The pedestrian was transported by Richfield Springs ambulance to St. Elizabeth Medical Center.  The driver of the tractor trailer is cooperating with the State Police and at this time, does not appear to be at fault.

Members from the State Police Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Unit (CVEU) and members of the Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI) responded to the scene.  Troopers were also assisted by Schuyler Lake and Richfield Springs Fire Departments and AMR ambulance. 

The incident remains under investigation.
