Update:  An investigation reveals that Michael J. Sipe, age 47 of Johnson City, NY was operating a homemade, unregistered motorcycle when he lost control on Interstate 81 in Cortlandville, NY, struck a guiderail and crashed.  Sipe was pronounced deceased at the scene.  The Cortland County Corner responded to the scene and Mr. Sipe was transported to Lourde’s by TLC Ambulance.   
 
Original Release: On July 18, 2020 at approximately 8:00 p.m., New York State Police at Homer responded to a fatal crash involving a motorcycle. 

The incident occurred on Interstate 81 south in the town of Cortlandville.  No other vehicles were involved.  The name of the victim is withheld, pending next of kin notification. 

The investigation is on-going.
