PRESS RELEASE
 

On Saturday, May 16 2020, at approximately 4:21 p.m., New York State Police at Ithaca, the Tompkins County Sheriff’s Department, McLean Fire Department and Groton EMS and fire responded to the area of Davis and Lafayette Roads in the town of Groton for a report of an accident with injuries. 

First responders located a heavily damaged 2007 Chevrolet Colorado and that the driver had been ejected out of the vehicle.  The driver has been identified as Douglas C. Linderberry, age 52 of Cortland, NY.  He was pronounced deceased at the scene. 

An investigation revealed that Linderberry was traveling eastbound on Davis Road at a high rate of speed when he failed to stop at the stop sign at Lafayette Road.  Linderberry continued through the intersection, went airborne and struck a tree.
