Just after 6:00 p.m. on Saturday evening, Troopers stopped a vehicle after it was observed operating erratically on Armsby Rd in Petersburg. The driver Adam Thomas, initially refused to open his window or speak with the patrol.

Thomas was asked out of the vehicle to perform the Standardized Field Sobriety Tests, which he failed, and was taken into custody. He was also found to be in possession of a quantity of marihuana.

When Troopers attempted to place him in the back of a patrol car, Thomas became combative, kicking and threatening the patrols. Thomas complained of back pain and requested an ambulance. When one arrived, he kicked at EMS personnel and spit at state police as they attempted to place him on a stretcher. After being transported to Samaritan Hospital, Thomas declined to be admitted.
