On March 4, 2020, State Police in Latham arrested 21-year-old Eddie Plerqui of Troy, for Tampering with Physical Evidence (E felony), Driving While Intoxicated (Misdemeanor), and Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th degree (A misdemeanor).

State Police stopped Plerqui for a traffic infraction shortly before 3:00 a.m. on Wednesday, as he travelled on I-787 in Albany. The trooper observed an item being thrown from the vehicle and onto the roadway. It was later determined that item was a small plastic bag containing a quantity of cocaine. When the trooper spoke with Plerqui, they could smell the odor of alcohol and he was administered the Standardized Field Sobriety Tests, which he failed.

Plerqui was transported to SP Latham where he provided a breath sample of .12% B.A.C. He was processed and issued an appearance ticket for Albany City Court on March 16, 2020 at 8:30 a.m.
