On July 28, 2020, State Police in Latham arrested 23-year-old Jamel Pearson II and 22-year-old Marquis Thompson of Albany, both were charged with Criminal Possession of a Weapon 3rd degree- Previous Conviction (D felony) and Probation Violation (E felony).

State Police stopped Pearson for a traffic violation at approximately 5:35 p.m. on Tuesday, as he traveled on South Pearl Street in the City of Albany. When the Trooper spoke with Pearson they observed signs indicative of drug use and a search was conducted. During the search the Trooper located a .22 caliber pistol inside a plastic shopping bag on the rear driver’s side floor board. Neither Pearson or Thompson could legally possess the firearm and both were in violation of their parole.

Both men were transported to SP Latham for processing and then to Albany County Jail to await arraignment.
