Two people were arrested during an Underage Drinking Initiative in Otsego County.  The initiative took place on October 28, 2022. 

Alcohol was sold to a minor at Mirabito on Main Street in Richfield Springs and Apple Mart on State Highway 29A in Cooperstown.  An appearance ticket was issued to each clerk who sold alcohol to the minor. 

Ten business in compliance were:

  • Parkview Liquors, Main Street, Richfield Springs, NY
  • Speedway, US Highway 20, Richfield Springs, NY
  • Stewarts Shop, Main Street, Richfield Springs, NY
  • Cooperstown Wine & Spirits, Cooperstown, NY
  • J&J Wine & Liquor, Cooperstown, NY
  • Mirabito, Chestnut Street, Cooperstown, NY
  • Rudy’s Liquor Store, Main Street, Cooperstown, NY
  • Stewart’s Shop Chestnut Street, Cooperstown, NY
  • Kelly’s Liquor Store, County Highway 29A, Springfield Center, NY
  • Mirabito, Genesee Street, Cherry Valley, NY

During the Underage Drinking Initiative, retail establishments are checked using a trooper in plain clothes and one or several underage operative(s) who cannot lie about their age or give a fake date of birth (if asked).  When asked for ID, they must show their real ID.  All New York State driver’s licenses are horizontal if the license holder is over the age of 21; if the license holder is under the age of 21, they are vertical.
