New Paltz, NY – On August 7, 2022, at approximately 12:20 a.m., State Police stopped a car on I-87 in the town of New Paltz for a vehicle and traffic violation.  While interviewing the occupants, probable cause to search the vehicle was established.  The driver, Parsram Ramnauth, 42, and the passenger, Aftab S. Jassal, 36, both of Bronx, NY, were found to be in possession of approximately 178 grams of cocaine and various items of drug paraphernalia. 

Both men were taken into custody, transported, and processed at SP Highland where they were each charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 2nd degree; a Class A Felony, Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance with Intent to Sell 3rd degree; a Class B Felony, and Criminal Use of Drug Paraphernalia 2nd degree; a Class A Misdemeanor.

Ramnauth and Jassal were arraigned before the Town of New Paltz Court and remanded to Ulster County Jail without bail.  The pair are to return to Court on August 10, 2022, at 5:30 p.m.
