On June 2, 2020, State Police in Wilton arrested 33-year-old Phillip R. Scoville III and 36-year-old Matthew N. Smyth, both of Hudson Falls, for Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 3rd degree- Intent to Sell (B felony), and Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 3rd degree- Narcotic Drug (B felony).

Smyth was stopped for a traffic infraction while travelling on I-87 in Moreau late Tuesday evening. While the Trooper spoke Smyth and his passenger, Phillip Scoville, a K-9 unit that was present on the stop indicated the presences of drugs in the vehicle. A search revealed that the men were in possession of approximately 106 grams of cocaine. Both were taken into custody and transported to SP Wilton for processing.

Scoville and Smyth were arraigned by a judge from Moreau Town Court and released on their own recognizance. They are due back on July 1, 2020 at 9:00 a.m.
