PRESS RELEASE

Queens, New York - On August 11, 2019 at approximately 2:35 p.m., Troopers from SP Bronx arrested Joshua Y. Yu, age 20, of Queens, New York and David Yu, age 30, of the Bronx, New York, for Criminal Possession of Stolen Property in the 3rd Degree – a class D felony, Criminal Possession of Stolen Property in the 4th Degree - a class E felony, and Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 3rd Degree (baton) - a class D felony.

Additionally, Joshua Yu was arrested for Obstruction of Governmental Administration in the 2nd Degree – a class A misdemeanor, and Criminal Trespassing in the 3rd Degree – a class B misdemeanor. David Yu was additionally arrested for Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 7th Degree (Ketamine) -  a class A misdemeanor.

The Troopers were patrolling the Bronx-Whitestone Bridge and conducted a traffic stop on a black-colored 2008 Chevy Trailblazer, operated by Joshua Yu, which was reported as stolen. During the traffic stop, Joshua Yu ran from the Troopers and was arrested after a search of the area found him at a nearby residence. Further investigation into the incident revealed a baton in the vehicle and David Yu, the passenger, to be in possession of Ketamine - he was also arrested.

Joshua Yu and David Yu were charged with Criminal Possession of Stolen Property in the 3rd Degree, Criminal Possession of Stolen Property in the 4th Degree and Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 3rd Degree. In addition, Joshua Yu was charged with Criminal Trespassing in the 3rd Degree, Obstruction of Governmental Administration in the 2nd Degree and Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle in the 3rd Degree, a class A misdemeanor. David Yu was additionally charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 7th Degree. Both men were remanded to Queens Central Booking pending arraignment.
